Information Store is not starting

This is an issue that I've met more than once on server running MS Exchange and Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange.
After the Forefront definition updates were installed automatically the Information Store and the Transport service are refusing to start. When you try to start them you receive "The dependency service or group failed to start". If you investigate the dependencies you will see that both services are dependent of the FSCController service and that service cannot be started.
In the Application Event log you will find the error 2063 generated by the FSC controller - "An error occurred. Failed to initialize document."
To solve this you have to follow the steps:
1. Disconnect Forefront Protection services from MS Exchange.
From the folder "\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server\", using command prompt run: Fscutility /disable.
Run Fscutility /status to check is you disconnected the service.
This will disable the link between Forefront and MS Exchange allowing you to start the Exchange services.

2. Uninstall Forefront Protection 2010 for MS Exchange from Control Panel, Program and Features
3. Rename the folder "\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server\" to something else. If you get an error, you should restart the server before trying again to rename the folder.
3. Reinstall Forefront Protection 2010 for MS Exchange from the installation kit.
4. Reboot the server as requested and install all the updates related to Forefront Protection.
This should restore you the protection provided by Forefront for Exchange.

Schimbare parola pentru useri in AD (Active Directory) din Command Prompt

Daca doriti sa schimbati , sper exemplu,  parolele pentru 500 de useri in AD ( acceasi parola la toti ), urmand ca apoi ei sa-si schimbe parola puteti folosi comanda de mai jos.
dsquery user “ou=nume_ou,dc=nume_domeniu,dc=organizatie” -limit 0 | dsmod user -pwd noua_parola

Pentru schimbarea individuala puteti folosi consola Active Directory Users and Computers.

Windows PowerShell Graphical Environment pe Windows Server 2008 R2

PowerShell ISE (Integrated Scripting Environment), vechiul Graphical PowerShell, este o alternativa grafica la cunoscutul Command Prompt .
PowerShell ISE face parte din PowerShell 2.0 care e deja integrat  in Windows 7 si Windows Server 2008 R2.
Principalul avantaj al lui PowerShell ISE este acela ca poti lucra cu 2 paneluri : unul pentru tastarea comenzilor si unul pentru afisarea outputului. Aditional putem adauga un al treilea panel pentru editarea scripturilor (se poate da disable ca sa avem mai mult spatiu).

Cum poti schimba windows server 2008 product key serial number

Dacă doriţi să schimbaţi serial number-ul sau product key-ul din Windows Server 2008 sau Windows Server 2008 R2 efectuaţi următoarii pasi:

-Run Command Prompt ca Administrator

-Schimbati working directory la %system32% ( cd %windir%\system32)

-Rulati comanda slmgr.vbs -ckms (aceasta comanda sterge KMS)

-Rulati comanda slmgr.vbs -upk (dezinstaleaza product key)

Cum sa faci Backup la Exchange 2010

Din ce in ce mai mai multe companii au trecut la implementarea Microsoft Exchange 2010. Şi, după cum ştiţi, următorul pas după implementarea exchange trebuie să fie gasita o solutie de backup.

Mulţi administratori de sistem sunt dispuşi să plătească mult pentru soluţii complexe de backup de care nu au nevoie neapărat.
Unul dintre cele mai bune solutii de backup (şi ceea ce este mai important, si solutie de restore), a fost întotdeauna Microsoft NT Backup. Începând cu Windows 2008 Microsoft a eliminat NT Backup şi a înlocuit-o cu "Windows Server Backup Feature"

Microsoft Windows Server Backup permite back-upuri VSS a bazelor de date Exchange, astfel încât acestea merg pe Exchange 2010 şi Hyper-V, pe Windows 2008 sau Windows 2008 R2.
